The Recap:
Familiar songs this week. I wrote that last week and got to thinking that it may sound bad, but it actually is a positive. I think in the drive by worship leaders to introduce new songs (I’m just as guilty as anyone), we can overload congregations and inhibit our gathered worship (people focus too much on getting the words & unfamiliar tune right instead of actually singing to/about God in worship). It was cool watching people this week – many not even looking at the screens because of the familiar songs.
Pastor Jason Helveston (City Church) preached this morning on Humility (Philippians 2:5-11). At Jason’s request – all songs were about exalting God…lifting His name high.
We ended the service with a trio singing an older Gaither Vocal Band song, Every Eye Shall See:
Ev’ry eye shall see
Ev’ry knee shall bow
Ev’ry tongue shall confess
To the glory of God
That Jesus is Lord
He is Lord, He is Lord
A great morning! Hope yours was also…
