The Recap:

First Sunday back after two weeks away…  What a great service, the flow of the songs today made it seem like one continuous worship song.  Today was Ben’s first day playing for service on drums and he did a great job!

We went right into Rising from Arise – it worked pretty good and keep the theme going well (we do both in E).  Did pretty much the same thing moving from How Great is Our God to Revelation Song (from G to D).  I think people are starting to become familiar with Revelation Song – it is such a powerful song and the pairing of it with How Great was nice.

Our song of response was a medley that I put together a while back when I was trying to find the right song to end a service with and was torn between Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone), Heart of Worship,  and I Surrender All. I think the medley ended up capturing so many aspects of what a life of worship looks like:

Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I’m found
Was blind but now I see

My chains are gone I’ve been set free
My God my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love amazing grace

Heart of Worship
So I’ll bring You more than a song, For a song in itself
Is not what You have required.
You search much deeper within, Through the way things appear;
You’re looking into my heart.

I Surrender All
So, I surrender all
I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all

Pastor John spoke on Worry & Peace, from Philippians 4:6-9.  It was a timely message for many, including me!

Hope your Sunday was great!

  1. Dennis, I’m going to give the medley a try – thanks for sharing!

Harold – You’re welcome. If you start quiet on Amazing Grace and then build dynamically to I Surrender All, it’s powerful. I hope people are blessed.
