The Recap:
What a cool morning! We had a special service to “commission” the team planting City Church in downtown San Jose. They have their first formal service June 6.
The Saving One was a new one for us this week and it went pretty well – it’s great modern hymn by Starfield. The other songs were familiar – it was the second week for Crowder’s version of Oh For A Thousand Tongues To Sing.
It was interesting planning this week – what songs do you plan for a church plant commissioning service? There are certainly some standard songs about the “church”; but, knowing the hearts of those launching City Church, I really was lead to plan songs focusing on the “why” of church planting. So we focused on Jesus as Savior and our response as followers: making Him known – which is what City Church and those planting it are doing. That was my desire anyway…and I think it worked.
Hope your day was great also!
