I love Jesus. I love my awesome wife. I dig music. I like to run.
This blog is basically a running stream of my experiences in life. In 2011, I took on the postaday challenge on WordPress.com. I was successful in 2011 and have a goal to post something each day moving forward – sometimes serious, mostly not…
Requisite before and after photo:

I’ve battled being overweight pretty much as long as I can remember, except for a two-year period when I lost about 100 pounds in 2001-2003 time frame. I promptly gained the weight back…
In early 2009, I had a “heart scare” that ended up with me getting a clean bill of health and a “second chance” according to the cardiologist. In 2010, I decided to finally do something about it (yeah, I stretched the “second chance” thing) and I loaded the Lose It! app on my iPhone and began changing the way I thought about food – you can read more about that here.
Fast forward to September 2011, I decided to start exercising after losing about 100 pounds. I did not exercise at all during my weight lose program (don’t hate me) and really am not into lifting weights or biking, so, running seemed doable appealing. I downloaded another app - Active.com’s Couch-to-5K® program – and haven’t stopped running since – you can read about that here.
So, it’s 2012. I feel great, don’t consider myself lazy any longer (though I still appreciate an occasional nap), and have a goal to run at l east one organized race each month to ensure that I stay active, in training, and on track with maintaining my weight.
sneaky way of inserting white space!!!
You might ask, “What’s with the Observations by a Dependent Workman blog title?”
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”
– 2 Timothy 2:15
Workman – We traditionally associate the word “workman” with someone’s job. To me, this verse really goes beyond that narrow definition and represents everything in life.
Dependent – I would be pretty arrogant if I said that I could even come close to being “approved” by GOD on my own.
