Today, in the space of an hour, one of the presenters used “y’know” over 100 times – though, as pronounced, it sounded more like “y’ow”. My eyes were heavy, so counting them was a welcome activity to keep myself awake.
Honestly, I’m no pro at speaking and have been known to “um” a few times during presentations – OK a lot. I guess I’ll just count those as a side benefit or service to listeners (y’know) who are fighting post-lunch drowsiness from now on!
