Thinking about my dad today – hard to think that it’s been two years today.
When we were going through the family memory chest after the memorial service, each of us were taking various reminders of him and my mom. I took this old badge of his and have kept it in my messenger bag ever since.
My dad was a hard worker and this badge seemed to resonate with me. I was sharing with my wife the other day how I really didn’t appreciate or grasp that trait as a kid (maybe most kids don’t.) The fact that, quite often, he worked two jobs to provide for and support us was sadly lost on me most of the time. What an example of responsibility, provision, and love for one’s family.
Thinking about my dad today…

I understand why it is significant to you. My brother came to visit this weekend, and I gave him the medals my dad earned in WWII.
Thank you for the comment. So true, those mementos are key in continuing the remembrance.
