A Modeled Conversation

February 24, 2012 — Leave a comment

On my run this morning, I could hear two dogs barking back and forth.

It got me thinking about what a conversation with my neighbor would look like if we interacted similarly…

me: BOB!
[silence]
me:
BOB!
[silence]
me: BOB?
[silence]
me: BOB!

bob: DENNIS?
me: BOB?
bob: DENNIS!
me: BOB!

bob: HOW’S THINGS?
me: BOB?
bob: DENNIS!
me: HOW’S THINGS?
bob: GREAT!  HOW ARE YOU?
me: JUST FINE!

[silence]

me: BOB?
bob: DENNIS?
me: BOB?
bob: DENNIS!
me: BOB!

[silence]

bob: DENNIS?
[silence]
me: BOB?
[silence]

john: WOULD YOU GUYS KEEP IT DOWN!

[silence]
me: BOB?
[silence]

i know, i need to think “higher thoughts” during my runs.

Training Journal – 2/24/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: 6 mile easy run @ 11:18.
  • Comments: Nice morning! Clear, slightly warmer than it has been, and a good head and tailwind (depending on where I was on my route.)  11:18 pace…pffft…try 9:31.  I still am challenged on follow planned pace on non-long run days…
