If you’re on Twitter, you’re probably like me – on a daily basis, I see some great tweets.

A while back, I started “favorite”-ing the ones that caught my eye – with the thought of doing a weekly post of the tweets that I found most funny, thought-provoking,  encouraging, etc.

I know I definitely miss a ton of good ones – I don’t monitor the “feed” well – but here is the first in that series…

The power of photographs is amazing.

They take us places – places we’ve been and wish we could go.

Invoke feelings – feelings we cherished enough to capture using this medium.

They help us recall experiences and people.

They spark memories that we’d consider highs and lows in life.

I know, those are pretty obvious statements – not revelations at all; but I was recently scrolling through the Camera Roll on my iPhone and traveled, felt, recalled, and remembered some recent highs & lows:

  • A ton of “set-up” shots for Facebook & Twitter statuses
  • A relaxing anniversary trip to Monterey

I AM for you, not against you.

I AM for you, not against you.

I AM for you, not against you.

I AM for you, not against you.

I AM for you, not against you.

I AM for you, not against you.

I AM for you, not against you.

I AM for you, not against you.

I was watching something at lunch and that phrase was repeated twice in a sentence…

…and it quietly kept echoing in my mind.

2 Manny I Ron’s

2 Manny I Ron’s

Funny, when I write it out that way it doesn’t seem that bad!  But, that is the state I often find myself in – through no one’s fault but my own!

Oh well…

If you’ve ever wondered, the phrase comes from blacksmiths putting bars of iron in the fire to get them hot enough to work with.  The smith had to be aware of the status of the iron and if he had too many to keep track of, it could be a big problem!

Are you a “2 Manny I Ron’s” -type person too?

I was on a business trip this week and goofed around with my iPhone and a few apps…

On the flight out, I finally watched Inception…thus the first video:

Ever the TiltShift user, I goofed around with a TiltShift Video app I downloaded.  Two views (portrait and landscape) from my hotel room one afternoon:

Old Georgetown Sign

I’ve been in the Washington D.C. area this week and the weather improved this afternoon, so I took a walk over to Georgetown for dinner.

An old Georgetown sign located at 1351 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest caught my eye as I was walking.  I snapped a picture and later goofed around with some of the filters on an iPhone app.

The original, unedited version is the first shot in the first group of images – original, un-cropped version at bottom.

My favorite filters are the fourth one from the left in the first grouping and the first one from the right in the second group.

This week’s photo challenge at The Daily Post at WordPress.com was:

Spring

I took these in our backyard…

OK, the tree with blossoms (it’s a peach tree) is actually in my neighbor’s yard, but it hangs over into our yard…

This year, I’m reading through the Bible using a historical plan.  It’s a plan where the “order of the Old Testament readings is very similar to Israel’s Hebrew Bible, progressing from Law to Prophets to Writings. The New Testament ordering is based upon research regarding the order in which the books were authored.”  I thought it would be interesting…

This bit of trash talk caught my eye this morning as I was reading in Judges.

I’m reading from the NIV, but loved the way it reads in The Message paraphrase:

Zebul said, “Where is that big mouth of yours now? You who said, ‘And who is Abimelech that we should take orders from him?’ Well, there he is with the troops you ridiculed. Here’s your chance. Fight away!”

Gaal went out, backed by the leaders of Shechem, and did battle with Abimelech. Abimelech chased him, and Gaal turned tail and ran.
