Ran my Big Sur, Hurricane Point simulator route this morning…AKA the “Y” route.

My goal was to keep the overall pacing at around 9-minute miles – I did pretty good. I ran it easy and without walking until mile 12, where I took a .2 mile walk break and took a GU ahead of the summit turn around. Overall, a great morning run!

Heard an interesting distinction today: moving forward vs. moving on.
The former means not forgetting, but progressing; while the later implies forgetting and leaving behind.
In some cases, one is better, wiser, or more necessary then the other.
Both are tough though…and neither make life any easier.

Or: Oh. My. Quads
On my trail run yesterday, I decided to kick it and do the main descent from Boccardo Peak as fast as I could without tripping, slipping, or otherwise making a fool out of myself…yeah, there were people around. Oh, and there were two guys at the Peak that were close to getting ready to run down just after I left too…read: they ain’t gonna pass me!
As you can see in my “how can I display this in a fun and interesting way & also kill some time during today’s lunch” graphic, for me at least, me & my Hokas were flyin’ down the hill:
My fastest time to date for the same two-mile, 1,027 foot downhill section was just under nineteen minutes. My slowest was close to 30 minutes back when my ITBS was just starting to flare up. [runnerd alert!]
I was fine yesterday; but, when I got up this morning to ride, I was a tad stiff. After riding 22 miles and then sitting in my office chair for most of the morning reading through some stuff, the OMQ set in…
Needless to say, tomorrow morning’s run WILL be an easy one.
Oh, and those two dudes didn’t pass me!
Giddy-up!

After a way-too-long break from trail running, I decided to do my long run up in Alum Rock Park this morning. It was a beautiful morning – peaceful and quiet run, with a few deer and a few fellow runners and mountain bikers too.

I’ve run variations of this route many times and, depending upon the route I take,
I see either a griffin or the Loch Ness Monster…
white space!
