Funny, when I write it out that way it doesn’t seem that bad! But, that is the state I often find myself in – through no one’s fault but my own!

If you’ve ever wondered, the phrase comes from blacksmiths putting bars of iron in the fire to get them hot enough to work with. The smith had to be aware of the status of the iron and if he had too many to keep track of, it could be a big problem!
