[ a slow news day ]
I stared and stared…and this is about all I ended up with:

Pathetic? Nah.
Apathetic? Possibly.
Avoidance? Hmmm…
Productive? YES! (at least i can check off my “postaday2011” task for April 12, 2011!)

I was reading in 1 Kings this morning and read King David’s charge to Solomon:
When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
“I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, act like a man, and observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go…”
1 Kings 2:1-3 (NIV)
I don’t really recall the final conversation I had with my dad – it probably wasn’t anything too deep. Exchanges like the one above aren’t the type that you’d typically expect unless one’s death was near.
I’m pretty positive that given the opportunity, my dad would have given me a similarly-themed charge — my mom as well.
I miss both of them something awful … I pray they would be pleased with my life.

This hymn was on repeat yesterday on my drive home…
I really like the PAGE CXVI version.
Be Still My Soul
Be still, my soul: the Lord is on your side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to your God to order and provide;
In every change, He will remain.
Be still, my soul: your God will undertake
To guide the future, as in ages past.
Your hope, your mind, your will let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright
Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s joys restored.
Be still my soul, and praise Him.
I bought this mug a while back and started using it again recently – mainly because it holds the most water…
Sometimes I leave it in the kitchen to dry or carry it to meetings…bwahahahahaha!
Get you own here!
Yesterday, Page CXVI (Website | Twitter | Blog) began an epic Tweet stream titled “Worship Headlines”
Unless you are a worship leader, musician, or church tech person, you may not completely appreciate them. If you fit into one of those groups, as you read them, will either cringe, laugh, or slyly smile.
We hosted them at our church last summer and I had the opportunity spend a little time with them. They are the real deal…buy their music (you can even download a few songs for free before buying all three of their Hymn albums) and, if you are in a position, host them at your church or group – you will be blessed!
Enjoy!

This ad caught my eye on my bank’s website the other day…

I wonder if they would approve of my design?

These are a few favorites that my wife and I shot on a recent trip – though I think she took most of them!
