This tweet caught my eye today and, once I have time to properly process it, will form the foundation of a subsequent post…
What is your initial reaction to it?
I wear contact lenses.
If you wear them, you know what it’s like to get a speck in your eye. Annoying.
It bugs to no end: eyes water, nose runs, constant eye rubbing, continual blinking, mumbling to yourself, people asking “are you OK?”, life is miserable for a bit, …the list goes on.
In fact, a while back I had something in my eye and tried to simply deal with it – to get by without addressing it. Needless to say, it was a long day. Everyone noticed I was “bugged” and yet I pretended like everything was OK.

There are probably deeper “refuge” themes and photos that I could have taken/posted, but when I read that word, this immediately came to mind!
I have cold hands. Freaky cold…
OK, they’re not cold all the time, but pretty much most of the time.
They are cold enough that I warn people about it before I shake hands with them. Most people smile and think, yeah right; but when I shake their hand, I can see the truth on their face as we’re shaking…wow, they are cold!
The other day I had my 6-month check-up with my doctor – I’ve been on a 6-month rotation ever since I had a “heart scare” in 2009. My report was great: weight down, numbers good, etc. Anyway, I asked her about my cold hands: Was there anything wrong? Was there something I’m not seeing? Is there a solution?
I think we all do this every once in a while. I guess we better stop…

Not to add anything to this great article, but to simply remind those of us who follow Christ that the words we speak are as much worship of God as the songs we sing at church:

I believe that God always answers prayer – and typically in one of three ways: Yes, No, or Wait.
I think in general, our desire when we pray is that God will answer as we ask, hope, and dream – which usually involves a YES answer. If we ask for “A”, our hope and expectation is that God will answer “A”, and not “B” or “C.” It’s what we expect from others when we ask them to do something – why should our prayers to God be any different.
The truth is, God knows what is best – we think we know, but we really only see our lives with a limited view. God is God and knows all; in fact, the Bible teaches that He has “known” for eternity. There is surety and comfort in that – even though a NO answer is hard, disappointing, and, in our human mind, the “wrong” answer. I guess NO is sometimes the best and most appropriate answer – believing and resting in that is called faith and trust.
