“…can we all get along?”

— Rodney King, 1992

sometimes this quote just pops into my mind…

Interaction

Read these quotes this morning:

Every man has a right to utter what he thinks truth,
and every other man has a right to knock him down for it.

–Samuel Johnson

The right to be heard does not automatically include
the right to be taken seriously.

–Hubert Humphrey

Its interesting how each person is perceived differently depending upon which side of the conversation they find themselves…

Too often, we forget that in our daily interactions with each other…

I know I can and should do better.

Great read over at Seth Godin’s blog:

What you should worry about

You’ve heard this question a lot. It’s what a novice asks an expert. He’s planning something or launching something and he wonders, “Should I worry about…”

Actually, it doesn’t pay to worry about anything.

Cherish all your happy moments;
they make a fine cushion for old age.

–Booth Tarkington

(from my afternoon Target run)

Maybe I’m just getting old, but  for some reason it really bugs me when a 5 or 6 year old uses the word “hella” in a sentence…

…or, maybe it’s just me.

(In follow-up to yesterday’s post.  No quote today, just sadness for a the loss of an innocent life…)

Interesting. So what’s yours?

Yesterday, Today

Saw this today:

Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.

…gonna have to remember that in a day or two or ten.

I recently finished listening to George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones and just started book 2 in the series, A Clash of Kings.  It had been a while since I’d spent time with fiction – needless to say, I’m hooked.

Anyway, driving to work yesterday, a line from A Clash of Kings really struck me.  As a PSA, I share it and a related “charge” that came to mind as I reflected…

The Quote:

“In the end, words are just wind.” — Lord Davos Seaworth

The Charge:

Let’s do our best to not break our wind – er word today.
