That’s Me!

This view caught my eye as I sat in the hospital waiting area today…

Training Journal – 3/16/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: 3 mile easy run
  • Comments: Quick run. It felt weird to only run 3 miles. Six months ago, that was a different story.

Minis

Mini Saltines have recently become my “go to” late night snack…

Training Journal – 3/15/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: 4 mile easy run
  • Comments: Nice easy run…lovin’ this shorts weather!

Slow Day

March 14, 2012 — Leave a comment

Slow day on the “what to write about” front…

Busy, yet very interesting day at work and I’m still a bit concerned about my father-in-law as he is still in the hospital and the back and forth progress that he’s going through…

Training Journal – 3/14/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: 6 mile run with hill repeats in the middle
  • Comments: Good workout!  Hill repeats were ~.2 miles in length with varying grades (2.7, 4.5, 7, 5, 2.8%) followed by equivalent recoveries.  I have been neglecting my hills and it’s nice to have a nice slopped road near home to do these on!  BONUS: I made it back home just ahead of the rain – it started sprinkling the last .25 miles.  I do need a rain gear check run though in prep for Sunday.  Maybe tomorrow…

…potential of an electric bill, parking ticket, or people.

Training Journal – 3/13/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: Rest
  • Comments: …rest…

I rented this documentary on my trip this week.  It’s a pretty good film about the race itself and some of the teams who run it each year.  It’s also nice to know that I’m not alone in my craziness.

Check out the trailer here.

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: Rest
  • Comments: I thought about running this morning, since this was originally a run day that I swapped with Monday, but I smartly listened to my wise wife!

Yeah, I could buy a few smaller ones instead of this dude, but where’s the fun in that…

I was going to try and post some images from my DC Run Tour today, but didn’t get a change to work that… Maybe tomorrow.

Training Journal – 3/5/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: 4 Mile Easy Run @ a 10:28 pace.
  • Comments: Cccccold outside this morning – at least to this visiting west coaster.  I did 4 miles @ 9:47 in 29-degrees: chilly!

A DC Run Tour

March 4, 2012 — 2 Comments

I traded my normal, east foothills, long run route for this one today. Great weather, hardly anyone out, and the sights were pretty sweet.  I’ll post some images tomorrow.

HAPPY SUNDAY!

Training Journal – 3/4/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: 9 Mile Long Run @ a 10:28 pace.
  • Comments: Was a wonderful, circle run tour around the Washington DC downtown sights. I started and finished at the Marine Corps War Memorial. 11.75 miles @ 9:26 (yeah, I know, off plan, but I didn’t want to dilly dally as I have a meeting today…)

Sometimes, it seems like there is a person sitting in a room with a button that makes these work only when I’m not trying to use them…

Training Journal – 3/3/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: Rest
  • Comments: Nada

Watched two great films on my trip this week:

Unbreakable: The Western States 100 – by JourneyFilm

me pumped!

Training Journal – 3/2/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: 5 mile speed work: Warm; 3×800 in 4:12 w/400 jogs; Cool
  • Comments: Good session.  I managed my 800m pace pretty well: 4:20, 4:07, and 4:02.

This was on the wall at the restaurant tonight:

Training Journal – 2/29/12:

  • Current plan: 12K Training
  • Today’s session: 4 Mile Easy Run
  • Comments: Same as yesterday: Did a 6.2 instead – though a tempo run vs. a negative split test.  On the outbound leg of the out-and-back, I ran up on a skunk – which resulted in a 100 yard dash being incorporated into the tempo run!
