Sometimes I feel this way…

Training Journal – 7/5/12:
- Current plan: Half-marathon program
- Today’s session: 6 mile easy run @ 9:09
- Comments: I did 6.7 @ 8:42. A bit windy this morning, which I ‘enjoyed’ on the first 1 and last 2.5 miles of the run!

Ran up on these two guys today during my morning run in Alum Rock Park…

June was pretty much a month of training squeezed in among several out-of-town trips. I didn’t ride the bike once.
I did get some new shoes, switching to Saucony Kinvara 3s for the road (LOVE THEM!) and getting a pair of Saucony Xodus 3.0 trail shoes from my wife for my birthday. I did my first trail run on June 30th and am planning to work in some trail runs into the training plan. I also registered for a trail race in August – might as well put the shoes (and me) to work!
Anyway, here are the stats for the month that was June 2012:

I noticed this menu-item indicator at a restaurant we ate at recently. I didn’t partake, though I thought about it…maybe next time.
The restaurant was Mama’s on 39 in Huntington Beach.

K got me some trail running shoes for my birthday, so I decided to test them out this morning on a short run. Me like!
It was a nice run and good hill workout. Pretty cool that this park is less that a mile from home!
I still will focus on road running, but I think I’ll mix in trails occasionally – even a trail race in August!

In the First Few Seconds
Your muscles start using adenosine triphosphate (ATP), energy molecules your body makes from food.
That burst of power you feel? It’s ATP converting into another high-powered molecule, adenosine diphosphate (ADP). Muscle cells, expert recyclers, will turn ADP back into ATP after the initial surge.

I stumbled upon this gem from the AskLaurenFleshman.com website today at lunch:
Build your own confidence by not looking around at others too much and working with the body you have. It is hard work to do that, but in my opinion, THAT is the only success worth having.

Training Journal – 6/27/12:
My wife and I enjoyed an extended get-a-way at the Disneyland Resort last weekend. The Grand Californian was very nice and Disney did a great job on their new Cars Land – we only waited 135 (daytime) then 120 minutes (nighttime) for the Radiator Springs Racers (the main attraction.) That wasn’t too bad for a new ride – I read that on opening day, the wait was 300+ minutes at times…! [Fast Passes were gone by 0900!]
Anyway, the weather was perfect and I did come home with a requisite Mickey Mouse t-shirt as well as two bags of my favorite Dark Chocolate Covered Mickey Mouse Pretzels!
Oh, I did discover one other “souvenir” – a product of our impromptu Disney character breakfast yesterday. While running this morning, I couldn’t get this song out of my head:
There was a farmer who had a dog
And Bingo was his name-o
B-I-N-G-O
…
[insert laughter, knowing that everyone reading this is now, at this very moment, humming this tune in their head… Mwahahahaahhaha!]
